A rising star in NASCAR endorses a rising star in the Democratic Party

This is the first time that I can recall a Democratic congressional candidate receiving an endorsement from a NASCAR driver, but Hailie Deegan, who drives in NASCAR's K&N Pro Series West, one of several regional NASCAR series that form the fourth tier of NASCAR-sanctioned automobile racing, publicly asked people in the 4th Congressional District of California to vote for Democratic candidate Jessica Morse: This can be thought of as one rising star endorsing another.

Hailie Deegan is a rising star in NASCAR. Deegan, 17 years of age, recently won a race in NASCAR's K&N Pro Series West, one of the regional NASCAR series forming the fourth tier of NASCAR-sanctioned auto racing, at Meridian Speedway in Idaho on a last-lap pass. With two races left in the K&N West schedule, Deegan has finished in the top ten in all but two races this season. Deegan was featured as a member of the NASCAR NEXT class of 2018; NASCAR NEXT is a NASCAR initiative to showcase rising stars in NASCAR and future top-level NASCAR drivers.

Jessica Morse is a rising star in the Democratic Party. A fifth-generation Northern Californian, Morse, who, prior to entering electoral politics, was a national security strategist and worked in numerous foreign countries for USAID, the federal government agency that administers much of the U.S.'s foreign aid, is the Democratic candidate in this year's election in the 4th Congressional District of California. Morse is a staunch supporter of net neutrality, and Morse also supports increasing access to health care, making community college and vocational education more affordable, and protecting public lands.
